Test Cricket
West Indies, affectionately known as the "Windies" have been a Test nation since 1976. Prior to that time the countries that make up the region competed as separate entities.
The first Test series the Windies played was at home against Anne Gordon's Australian team in 1976. The captain was Louise Brown and both Tests were drawn - a victory in a sense as the Australians were strong and this was the Windies debut.
